Quote by NightSongi agree with you. it's not the video games that causes the violence. all these stories, as you already told, gives the children stupid stereotypes - beautiful - good, ugly - bad.
when i was, like, 6 - 7 years old i was a pro in that shooting game Quake (or something like that), because it was the only game on my pc at that time. now i'm 16 but i hate violence. few months' ago there was an event here in Latvia, Andrejsala. i went there because of boredom, i walked around and stuff and when i was just about to leave two guys started a fight and i freaked out from that so much that i almost fell into the river, luckily one guy grabbed my hand and pulled me back. it was like -10C outside, i would have probably died if i fell in there. but the thing i'm trying to tell here, even though i was playing a violent games when being a child i'm not trying to kill people right now or something. i'm not even enjoying when someone is fighting or trying to beat up someone. i think that the nowadays violence has nothing to do with video games, it depends how you have been raised in your family.
there was an incident few years ago, when bunch of boys were beating up another guy on a frozen river, when that guy was half-alive they threw him under the ice. when police asked them why they did that, they said they wanted to try out some kind of tricks from mortal combat.
it's all about family, if parents cannot teach their children what is truly right or wrong, things like this will occur. and actually those violent children are those who's parents are alcoholics or they live separate. it's a way how they express their pain and that they feel something is wrong. nor children nor the video games are to blame, only the parents who doesn't take care of their children.

that's only my point of view!:)
